Extension privacy policy
Effective 7 October 2026. This policy describes the Shogir browser extension and its connection to shogir.com. For website accounts and saved website documents, also see our website privacy information.
Information you choose to use
The extension handles the profile information you enter or import, including your name, contact details, professional links, career history, education, CV, cover letter and screening answers. Your supplied information may include work rights, availability and salary preferences. It also reads the selected application page’s URL, title, form labels, available answers and submission status to assist with that application. It does not collect your general browsing history, passwords or payment-card details.
Repeat searches, document customization and diagnostics
Version 0.11 adds Indeed browser search and optional repeated searches. When you enable repeat search and authorize it, an encrypted local snapshot retains your chosen search, settings, profile and documents until you turn it off. Browser alarms schedule checks while the browser is available. A queue needing attention pauses further searches. Turning repeat search off removes its snapshot; use Pause queue to stop a batch already running. Saving new configuration also turns repeat search off.
Optional local document customization creates PDFs using your supplied CV text, matching CV lines and cover-letter template. This runs on your device without a paid AI request. Daily submit allowances, up to 300 activity entries and up to 30 diagnostic snapshots are stored locally. Snapshots include job URLs, titles, field labels and failure messages, not screenshots, filled answers or document contents. You can export the local history to CSV or clear logs and captures separately. Clearing logs preserves receipts and daily allowance records to avoid duplicate submissions. The alarms permission is used only for your authorized repeat search.
Browser job search
When you start a browser search, your selected keywords, location and date filters are sent to SEEK or LinkedIn by opening their normal search pages in your signed-in browser. The extension reads displayed job titles, employers, short descriptions and links. The latest search and results are stored encrypted on this device and replaced by a new search; results older than 24 hours are removed when the extension starts. Adding results to a saved application batch also saves the selected jobs to your Shogir account. The review-only search does not send applications. Search & auto-apply requires your authorization for the selected criteria, approved document template and maximum job count before it starts applications. It does not read unrelated browsing history.
Where your information goes
When you authorize a selected application, reviewed queue or automatic queue, the extension fills the employer’s application form and attaches the documents you selected. Submitting sends those details to that employer or its recruitment platform, which has its own privacy policy. Website automatic mode uses the profile you confirm to generate a separate document pair for each chosen vacancy. The extension’s Search & apply with my files mode instead snapshots your uploaded CV, optional cover letter and saved details and reuses that same pair for a bounded search you authorize. This extension mode does not require a Shogir account or send your files to Shogir. You authorize selected jobs or a bounded search with chosen documents before submission. Chrome still requires application-site permissions, and incomplete or unsupported forms pause. Manual document review is available as an alternative.
AI screening assistance is optional and off by default. If you enable it, your supplied career facts, unanswered form questions, available choices and job context are sent over HTTPS through your signed-in Shogir account to OpenAI. The response is used to match answers to your supplied facts. The extension does not send your Google password or an OpenAI API key. Website CV and cover-letter generation is a separate action that sends the text you provide to OpenAI when you request generation. OpenAI processes those requests under its applicable API data policies.
Storage and retention
Profiles you explicitly save and application attempt records are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in the extension’s local browser database on your device until you clear them or remove the extension. Attempt records contain the selected job’s URL, title, time and result to prevent accidental duplicate submissions. CV and cover-letter files you upload in the extension are encrypted separately and retained for reuse until you remove or replace them, clear saved files, or uninstall the extension. Text extraction happens locally using bundled PDF and Word readers, without a translation or AI service. Extracted contact details and text are saved as draft profile information for you to review before applying. Scanned documents are not automatically transcribed.
Batch PDFs are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in the extension’s own browser database and bound to a token kept in encrypted extension storage. They can be restored after a browser restart. They are cleared after the queue completes or when you discard it. The session expires after 24 hours and expired documents are removed when accessed. The encryption key is a non-exportable browser CryptoKey stored separately in the extension’s database. This does not protect against someone controlling your signed-in browser or device; protect access to both.
Requests made through Shogir and its hosting infrastructure may generate operational records such as timestamps, IP addresses, error codes and account identifiers for delivery, security and usage limits. Saved website profiles and documents are held separately from extension storage; clearing the extension does not delete your website account or an application already received by an employer.
Saved answers, CV rules, unavailable times and application drafts you save on Shogir are held in your signed-in website account. The active queue can receive the saved answers when you authorize it. Confirmed browser receipts may be copied to your account tracker while the website is open. The reply assistant works with text you enter; it does not read your mailbox or send a reply.
Your choices and deletion
You can edit your profile, leave AI assistance off, pause a queue, skip a job or decline access to a job site. Use the individual Remove saved CV / cover letter buttons to delete a file and its extracted text, or “Clear saved profile, files and attempt history” to remove all saved profile information, files and attempt records. Use “Discard queue” to remove a batch and its PDFs. Removing the extension clears its browser storage. To request access to, correction of or deletion of data held by Shogir, contact [email protected] from the email associated with your account.
Permissions and limited use
The active-tab and scripting permissions let the extension inspect and assist with the application you select. Storage supports your saved details, documents and duplicate protection. Access to Shogir connects your reviewed job queue and optional AI requests. Access to supported employer domains is requested for the selected queue or when you enable SEEK or LinkedIn from the extension. You can revoke site access in the browser’s extension settings. No analytics or advertising SDK is included in the extension, and the extension does not send information to advertisers. Application-page information is used for the job-application features described here, not advertising or creditworthiness decisions.
Contact and changes
Shogir operates this extension. Privacy questions can be sent to [email protected] or through our contact page. Material changes to these practices will be reflected in this policy and, where needed, in the extension’s disclosures before a new use of your data.
